Palazzo Artemide is located on Via Roma in the centre of Ortigia island, a small island which is the historical centre of the city of Syracuse. Renowned for its Greek heritage, Ortigia is a UNESCO landmark for its "remarkable testimony of the Mediterranean cultures over the centuries” with many historical landmarks. The island, also known as the Città Vecchia, is connected to the modern city via a bridge which stretches across a narrow strip of sea. There is a variety of outdoor restaurants and elegant piazzas surrounded by the crystalline sea. Porto Piccolo is a small boat harbour in Ortigia.

The hotel is situated adjacent to the Cathedral della Nativita, overlooking Piazza Minerva and 190m from Piazza Duomo. It is 400m from the waterfront and Giardino Aretusa with natural fountain with a promenade leading to the marina (700m). The small beach of Cala Rossa is 300m away.  Fontana di Diana is 200m, Castello Maniace waterfront fortress 800m and Temple of Apollo 500m.  The Old Street Market of Ortigia is 700m away near Porto Piccolo. The Greek Theatre and Archaeological Park are both under 3km from the hotel.

Syracuse is a city rich in Greek and Roman architecture and which Cicero once considered to be the most beautiful of all the Greek cities. Perhaps most famously, the city of Syracuse is home to one of the greatest ancient Greek theatres dating back to the 5th century BC and large enough to hold an audience of up to 15,000. This theatre draws history enthusiasts from all over the world and is still used to this day for the annual Greek Theatre festival (May/June).

With attractions such as the third century Roman amphitheatre and the archaeological museum as well as an abundance of shops, restaurants and bars, Ortigia and Syracuse is a fantastic location for sightseeing and a cultural holiday.
